Apprentice Jenny scoops national award thanks to your help

BAE Warton apprentice Jenny Westworth has scooped a national award with your help.

The 23-year-old, who works on the Eurofighter Typhoon, was named National Apprentice Champion of the Year.

Jenny was nominated because of her achievements since finishing her apprenticeship and because of her efforts championing apprenticeships.

She was recently crowned one of the North West’s best apprentices in the regional final of the National Apprenticeship Awards and National Training Awards 2012.

Since completing an Advanced Apprenticeship in Aerospace Engineering  Jenny has become an Education Ambassador for BAE Systems and an ambassador for the promotion of Science Technology Engineering and Maths (STEM) subjects in her region.

As well as promoting Apprenticeships and demonstrating the careers that studying STEM subjects can lead to, she is also a passionate supporter of the annual National Apprenticeship Week. Jenny qualified as a mechanical manufacturing engineer in March 2011 and, as a result, secured a role working on the Eurofighter Typhoon Final Assembly facility at the Warton site.
