THE CONSERVATIVES have launched a competition to offer start up businesses a free slot at the annual party conference.

The “Start-up Hub” business action competition will give a range of business the chance to exhibit for free at this year’s conference in Birmingham between 7th – 10th October.

It follows a similar successful project at the conference in Manchester last year.

Mark Menzies said: “There is always a wealth of interest in the exhibits at the Conservative party conference and this is a wonderful opportunity.

“I definitely hope to see a start-up business from Fylde taking part.”

The businesses who took part in Manchester got a lot from the Start-up Hub, including making helpful connections with local MPs and councillors, to meeting important new business contacts.

This was summed up by Neill Ricketts from Verserien, a materials development company based in Mark Harper’s constituency of Forest of Dean, who said that the Start-up Hub ‘proved to be a catalyst to our development.’

The competition is open to any business which has launched since May 2010 and 12 finalists will be invited to the conference.

The application details can be found online at and the closing date for applications is 30th June 2012.
