TWO charity events hosted by Fylde MP Mark Menzies made £2,000 for a pair of worthy causes.

Mr Menzies held a charity barbecue at the Hand and Dagger pub in Salwick this summer where £1,600 raised for Macmillan Cancer Support and Dementia UK.

On Saturday, a coffee morning held to hand over the money to representatives from the charities raised a further £400, meaning a total of £1,000 was given to each of the worthy causes.

Mr Menzies said: “Both these charities provide excellent services in our communities and I am delighted so much money was raised through these two events.

“A big thank you to everyone who attended and helped raise this terrific sum of money.”
