Fylde MP officially opens new school gardens

FYLDE MP Mark Menzies said he was extremely impressed by the work of youngsters at Lytham St Annes Technology and Performing Arts College during a recent visit.

The Member of Parliament had been invited to the school to officially open the new Sixth Form and School Council Gardens.

The garden was the brainchild of Head Boy Greg Anderton, who has ambitions to one day own his own nursery and garden centre.

Along with a group of school council members, Greg lobbied local businesses to donate plants to brighten up a tired area of the school site before they rolled up their sleeves and got to work creating the stunning new beauty spot.

Mr Menzies said: “It is always great to see hard-working young people doing something to make things better for themselves.

“In this case the school council identified a somewhat tired area of the school site and decided they would create a garden for all pupils to enjoy.

“It was a delighted to receive the invite to come down and officially open it.”

Greg added: “This was an area at the front of school and something people saw immediately when arriving on site so we wanted to make sure it gave a good impression.

“Dobbies at Clifton donated many of the plants for the project and we were very grateful for their assistance.”
