Fylde MP supports outreach service

MP Mark Menzies has presented a £1,000 cheque to a day centre manager in a bid to help make Christmas a little bit merrier for a group of older people in Fylde.

Service users at the Adult Support and Outreach Service (ASOS) – formerly the Church Road Day Centre – will be treated to a Christmas party with all the trimmings thanks to the generous donation from the Queendeans charity, of which Mr Menzies is patron.

The centre – which offers support and a place to go for older people – is now based in the Clifton Dance Studios on Clifton Drive South, St Annes.

Mr Menzies said: “I was pleased to be able to support the day centre when it required new premises last year and recently paid a visit to speak to staff and service users.

“It really is an excellent service which provides a home-from-home for many of Fylde’s older residents.

“This money will be used for Christmas parties over the course of three days this week so that all those who attend the service can enjoy a festive treat.

“At this time of year we must be really aware of problems some older people face with loneliness and services such as Adult Support and Outreach provide a lifeline which allows people to get out of the house and socialise with others who may be in a similar position.

“I am proud to be patron of a charity like the Queendeans, which recognises how important services like that are and works hard to support them.”
