Fylde MP visits historic hall ahead of revamp

FYLDE MP Mark Menzies is looking forward to exciting times at Lytham Hall after paying a visit to the historic stately home.

Lytham Hall joins Blackpool Tower as the only other Grade 1 listed building on the Fylde coast and is rightly seen as a jewel in the area’s crown.

But times have been hard for the former seat of the renowned Clifton family, and the house and its grounds are in need of extensive refurbishment.

That project is now underway and Mr Menzies visited the hall to meet the team behind the scheme, view the current progress and hear about the exciting plans in the pipeline.

Following the visit, the Member of Parliament said: “Lytham Hall is one of the things I am most proud to have in Fylde and it deserves its place among some of the North West’s most celebrated historic buildings.

“It was fascinating to see the preparation work getting underway before the renovation work starts in earnest at the site next year and throughout 2016.

“While Lytham Hall is a stunning reminder of the history behind Fylde, I cannot wait to see the finished building and grounds when they are restored to their former glory.

“The team behind the project are doing a fantastic job but they will continue to need the support of Fylde residents as they move forward and I hope people will continue to raise funds for this fantastic asset.”

Each Sunday, volunteers organise a Snowdrop Walk at the hall where visitors can follow a trail through the parkland and enjoy the abundance of beautiful flowers.

They can then head into the tea room for a hot drink and a snowdrop cupcake, or purchase a snowdrop to take home to plant before heading inside to hear about the Clifton family history. All proceeds go to the Lytham Hall Appeal.
