Fylde MP visits Royal Mail delivery office

FYLDE MP Mark Menzies visited the Royal Mail delivery office in St Annes this morning and met workers who were frantically trying to make sure Fylde residents get their cards and parcels on time.

Mr Menzies was shown round by office manager, James French, and was introduced to the postmen and women who are working hard sorting and delivering the influx of extra packages in the run-up to Christmas.

Staff said they were facing one of the busiest days of the year and Mr Menzies made sure to thank them on behalf of the people of Fylde for all the hard work they have done over the festive period and previously this year.

He said: “It was amazing to see how busy all the Royal Mail staff were, as well as the amount of parcels and letters continuously coming through the doors while we were there.

“The manager James said they had received more than four times as many deliveries this year as they had last year with the same amount of staff and they have obviously handled it very well.

“While at the delivery office I even got to meet my own post man who was sorting all the letters for my area and thank him for all his hard work.

“While people are winding down for the Christmas break, postal staff are working harder than ever and deserve our gratitude.”
