Jubilee celebrations in Fylde

MARK Menzies attended a number of fantastic Fylde Diamond Jubilee celebrations this Monday.

First up was the opening of a street party at The Mall in St Annes organised by local residents followed by a similar party at The Boulevard in Fairhaven.

Next stop was Park View Road Playing Fields in Lytham where Park View 4U had managed to secure official Jubilee status for the park – one of only about 20 in the country to do so.

Finally there was the lighting of a special Diamond Jubilee beacon at Warton Village Hall at an evening event organised by Bryning-with-Warton Parish Council.

Mayor of Fylde, Cllr Heather Speak, was on hand to light the beacon to mark the very special occasion.

Mr Menzies said: “I was hugely impressed by the spirit and patriotism shown by the people of Fylde throughout the weekend and huge credit must go to the orgnaisers of these terrific events.

“I know many people from Fylde even made their way down to London to watch the River pageant on Sunday.

“I thank everyone who invited me and I hope everyone enjoyed themselves.”
