Life-saving donation presented by MP

Fylde MP Mark Menzies presented a cheque to RNLI bosses after a huge fundraising effort from pub goers.

The Member of Parliament joined staff and regulars at the Station Tavern in Lytham to hand over the generous £1,200 donation.

Mr Menzies is a big supporter of the work done by Lifeboat crews to protect people off the Fylde coast and said he was delighted to be invited along to present the cheque.

He added: “Over the years the RNLI has been responsible for saving countless lives off the Fylde coast and the bravery and dedication shown by its volunteers never ceases to amaze me.

“I know donations like the one from the Station Tavern are vital for its continuing survival so I was delighted to be able to hand over the cheque on behalf of the pub.

“The amount raised by the staff and pub-goers is extremely impressive and the money they have donated will now go towards saving lives.

“I know other local businesses have also donated raffle prizes to help reach this amount of money so it is great to see the community come together like this to support such a worthwhile cause.”
