Mark Menzies MP attends Fylde Sharks’ charity fundraiser

FYLDE MP Mark Menzies said he was delighted to be able to join a local swimming club for a charity fundraising fair.

The Member of Parliament attended the Fylde Sharks event to raise essential funds for the club, which runs swimming classes for children with disabilities.

The fair saw supporters gather at St Cuthbert’s Church Hall in Lytham and dig deep to spend money at stalls and help raise money.

Mr Menzies said: “It was lovely to see the amount of people who had turned up to help raise money for this worthwhile cause. Christine Miller, who was voted Fylde’s Woman of the Year 2015 in the competition I held earlier this year, is heavily involved with the Sharks and I was delighted to be able to attend.

“Clubs like this provide an important opportunity for children with disabilities to get involved in group activities and help with development of vital social skills. It was great to meet the children and volunteers involved with the service.

“I was told how the club helps children interact and communicate with their peers, improves confidence and reduces social isolation by bringing together young people and their families in and out of the swimming pool.

“I also had the opportunity to meet a group of budding entrepreneurs from AKS school who are selling candles as part of a school project. I believe their efforts have been extremely successful and I was impressed with the hard work they have put into their endeavours.”
