Mark Menzies praises organisers after soccer event

FYLDE MP Mark Menzies has praised the organisers of a football tournament for disabled people following a successful event this weekend.

The Member of Parliament was on hand to present the trophies to the winning teams after the final whistle at Seafield playing fields in Lytham on Saturday.

And he was delighted, not just by the efforts of those who took to the field, but by the hard work put in by all those behind the scenes who were instrumental in pulling the tournament together.

Mr Menzies added: “It was great to see all the players down at Lytham enjoying themselves and having a good time.

“But events such as this do not just happen and I know a lot of people worked hard to bring it all together.

“They should be very proud of the job they did because they made a lot of people happy this weekend and I was delighted when I was asked to present the trophies to the winning teams.

“However, it is not cheap to put on events like this and the organisers can’t ask the teams to pay a lot because they don’t have a great deal of money either.

“Any sponsorship or donations towards this very worthy cause would I am sure be very much appreciated.”

The event was organised by the Ormerod Group sports coach Luca Lanzani.
