FYLDE MP Mark Menzies praised the facilities at a local school when he was given a tour of its new extension.

Pupils at Lytham Hall Park Primary School moved into extended and refurbished classrooms and Mr Menzies was invited to the premises to see the transformation first-hand.

The Member of Parliament was given a tour of the school by headteacher Sharon Bowker who told him the entire school was pleased with the new building, which includes a new hall, classrooms, music room and communal learning spaces.

Following the visit, Mr Menzies said: “The new extension at Lytham Hall Park is excellent and I am sure pupils’ can only benefit from the extra facilities they now have, which would be the envy of any school.

“But not only has the school received this brilliant new extension, which all the staff and pupils are rightly proud of, it has also ensured the older areas of the school have not fallen behind.

“While I was at the school it was a pleasure to see that the pupils were extremely happy in what is a fantastic learning environment.”

During the visit, Mr Menzies met pupils and was questioned about the forthcoming General Election and his role as MP by members of the student council and leadership team.

He also heard how classes had been involved in debates over fictitious plans to build houses on nearby Witch Wood.

He added: “While I was pleased to be able to confirm that no such plans existed I told the class that were anyone to try I would come back to ask for their help.

“During my time as a Member of Parliament I have been involved in some fierce debates but I can imagine no better people to ask serious questions than the pupils from Lytham Hall Park.

“I was also pleased to be able to answer some questions from the student council and leadership team who seemed to have a real grasp on the subject of politics and the coming election.”
