Mark Menzies vows to fight on for Lytham post office

Fylde MP Mark Menzies  has vowed to continue his battle to retain Warton Street Post Office after the sitting postmaster tendered his resignation.

Mark Bamforth this week handed in his notice to Post Office LTD due to ill health and Mr Menzies has sent his best wishes for Mark’s future.

The MP recently secured a commitment from the Post Office that the popular branch would not be closed and has now written to the company to ensure that situation will not change.

Mr Menzies added: “I am very sad to hear that Mark has decided to step down after many years serving the local community as Warton Street postmaster.

“Since coming to Parliament I have fought alongside Mark to ensure the post office remains in place at Warton Street and have today written to the company to say that I expect that service to continue, in spite of Mark’s decision.

“Mark’s family has been a mainstay in the area for a long time and I am sure many people will miss the personal touch they brought to the role. But sometimes you have to put your health first and I want to add my very best wishes for the future to those of the local community he has served.”
