FYLDE MP Mark Menzies today paid tribute to the people behind a new aircraft-themed children’s playground in Warton.

The site, which is located behind the village community centre on Lytham Road and is intended for use by children under five, has been installed by Bryning-with-Warton Parish Council – after money and time were donated by BAE Systems, the parish council and the people of the village.

Mr Menzies attended the official opening of the playground on Saturday and said he was delighted to see so many youngsters using the facility.

He added: “It was a pleasure to attend the opening of the playground which is a testament to the hard work of parish councillors and local volunteers.

“Projects like this do not simply happen, they take perseverance and determination and everyone involved should be proud of what they have created for local children, who seemed to be having a great time on the new equipment.

“BAE Systems has long worked alongside the community in Warton to fund projects such as this and should be commended for its public-spiritedness.”
