MP in homes site visit

FYLDE MP Mark Menzies was impressed by the quality construction on display when he visited a new development of social housing in St Annes.

The Member of Parliament joined town mayor Cllr Vivienne Willder on a tour of the Progress Housing scheme on St David’s Road North.

The site is currently approaching completion with the first tenants expected to move into properties in mid-July.

During the visit, the invited guests were shown around one house before being taken on a walking tour of the project to look at the different flats, houses and bungalows on offer.

Mr Menzies said: “This site has been an eyesore for a number of years so I was pleased when I heard that it was to be redeveloped into a high quality social housing scheme.

“Having visited the site as it approaches completion, I was happy to see that the workmanship involved is second to none and I am sure tenants will be delighted with their new homes when they move into the properties.

“I am always pleased when a derelict brownfield site is given a new lease of life in this way and becomes something a community can be proud of.

“I hope that the local residents who may have been disturbed by the work going on are happy with the final outcome which will be a street full of new neighbours to join this thriving part of St Annes.”
