FYLDE MP Mark Menzies has revealed his delight after helping secure new premises for a vital day care service in St Annes.

Church Road Day Centre currently operates from the Church Road Methodist Church and provides a place for older and vulnerable people, particularly those with mental health needs, to go to socialise with others so they do not become cut off and lonely.

However, in September the management revealed the service could no longer afford to operate from its current home and needed new premises.

Following the news, Mr Menzies was contacted by a number of concerned residents and service users desperate for the service to continue to operate in St Annes.

The Member of Parliament issued an appeal through the media and contacted local councils, health services and businesses to see if anyone could offer a space to the service to allow it to continue its vital work.

And he was delighted when manager Pauline Baldwin this week informed him the service had found a new home at Clifton Dance Academy on nearby Clifton Drive South.

Mr Menzies said: “This is a service which is very close to people’s hearts as it has been running for many years in St Annes and has helped so many people.

“When I heard it was in trouble I wanted to do everything I could to try to help them find new premises and was delighted when I heard they had found a new home.

“I understand they will be able to continue uninterrupted in the new venue and offer the same excellent service which they always have.

“While this has secured the service for the foreseeable future, I know they are always looking for new clients to make use of what is on offer to ensure they can keep running and if anyone feels a member of their family would benefit from this kind of service I cannot recommend it highly enough.”
