THE ribbon was cut last Friday to officially open a dynamic new energy business in Fylde.

Mark Menzies MP, who works as Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Minister for Energy and Climate Change, Charles Hendry MP, was the guest of honour at the opening of Local Green Energy.

The firm, headed by managing director Asif Rizvi and director of trading and operations Omar Rahim, analyses and controls data on energy use to help find the best deals for their clients.

They also source energy from local firm Greengen to help companies ensure they source a good percentage of energy from renewable sources.

Mr Menzies gave a 10 minute speech to staff at the firm prior to cutting the ribbon, stressing the need for the UK to explore a mix of renewable and traditional energy sources to help meet Britain’s energy security needs.

He said: “I was delighted to be able to open Local Green Energy.

“They are a very promising young company who seem to have some excellent young minds at the helm in Omar and Asif. I wish them every success.”
