A FYLDE primary school has been hailed as “a shining example” after scooping an “outstanding” Ofsted report.

Mark Menzies, MP for Fylde, visited St Peter’s RC Primary School on Norfolk Road to offer his congratulations following the successful inspection.

The school became the first Primary in Fylde to scoop an outstanding Ofsted report following the introduction of new standards by the Government inspectors earlier this year.

Mr Menzies said: “This is a very significant achievement and is a credit to the head teacher, Mrs Kelly, and her staff.

“Their high level of dedication and commitment was clear to see and it was a pleasure to meet some of the children who are benefiting.

“The school are clearly thought of as a shining example, as many Primary schools in Fylde are, and I know they will continue to strive to be even better.”

The report, which followed an inspection last month, said the head teacher, Liz Kelly, had showed “exceptional leadership” while also praising the attitudes of pupils, parents and carers.

It said pupils had been making rapid and sustained progress in their lessons and praised teachers for the “highly effective” and “inspiring” lessons.
