Schools question time proves popular

FYLDE’S MP was on the receiving end of a grilling with a difference this week – a Question and Answer session from a group of Primary School children.

Mark Menzies visited Lea Community Primary School to meet with school council members from six different primary schools from around Preston at a session specially organised by Lea head teacher, Trevor Hart.

And despite the tender ages of the audience, Mr Menzies was not given an easy ride.

“It was excellent to see so many very young children who were genuinely interested in current affairs and the way the country works,” Mr Menzies said.

“They asked me some challenging and interesting questions and seemed to have been studying hard about Parliament, Government and the world around them.

“I would like to thank all the children for their questions and their teachers, particularly Mr Hart who is an outstanding head teacher, for organising the event.”

Mr Hart added: “’This was a great opportunity for the Pupil Voice at Lea to put their questions to a Member of Parliament.

“The questions were challenging and searching and it must be said they made our MP think.

“It was a fantastic experience with all children learning a great deal and enjoying every minute of it.

“I have to say Mark was brilliant with the children.”
