Two awards for Fylde firm

UPL

FYLDE’S MP has today offered his congratulations after Kirkham firm UPL Ltd scooped two awards at Lancashire’s premier business ceremony.

The Bradshaw Lane based company, a personal care and pharmceutical products contract manufacturer, were named Business of the Year and Manufacturer of the Year at this year’s BIBA’s.

Mark Menzies today said it was a proud day for Fylde and showered praise on the company.

He said: “This is a terrific achievement for the company, for their staff and for Fylde.

“It is an honour to have been able to champion UPL’s achievements to Ministers and long may their success continue.”

Commenting on the awards, UPL, Managing Director, Mike Peters, said: “We have been informed many times that our customers have won awards for their products, which of course are formulated and manufactured by us, so it gives me great pleasure that for once UPL people have been recognised for their creativity, productivity and their contribution to the local community, and the industry we serve proudly.

“It is a great credit to everyone at UPL that the work we have been doing in recent years has been recognised by the North West Chamber of Commerce in this way, and we are delighted and privileged to be in the company of the other finalists who have clearly worked so hard throughout the current economic downturn.”

Another Fylde manufacturing giant, Springfields Nuclear Fuels Ltd, were also nominated in the Manufacturer of the Year category.
