MY WEEK IN WESTMINSTER

PRIME Ministers Questions is, of course, the big event of the week in Parliament. So it is always a major moment when you have a chance to question the man in charge of running our great country. It was particularly pleasing last week, therefore, to be able to ask a question recognising the importance of a group of people who are very important to all of us – our Armed Forces. Since becoming an MP I have tried to do my best to recognise and understand the hard... Read more »

MY WEEK IN WESTMINSTER

THE only running I get to do these days comes when I have to rush into Parliament from my office across the road. So I was full of admiration for the competitors last Sunday as I had the honour of starting the Freckleton half-marathon. Fortunately, other than handing the shovels and other equipment over, I didn’t... Read more »

Supporting breast cancer patients

A LOCAL MP has pledged to step up the fight for improved breast cancer services after it was revealed that UK breast cancer survival rates still lag behind those of other European countries.  Mark Menzies, MP for Fylde and a keen supporter of Breakthrough Breast Cancer, was among around 60 MP’s and peers who attended a special event held by the charity in the House of Commons last week. During the event, the charity said that their research showed that 48,000 UK women are diagnosed with the... Read more »
