Mark Menzies MP urges Secretary of State to dismiss Fylde shale gas site

Fylde MP Mark Menzies has said plans for a proposed shale gas site at Roseacre Wood should be thrown out following a public inquiry into the scheme. This week the Planning Inspectorate released its findings following an appeal by Cuadrilla Resources after Lancashire County Council dismissed the company’s application for two exploration sites at Roseacre and at Preston New Road, Little Plumpton. This week I was delighted to be able to attend the official opening of the fantastic new play area and gardens in Freckleton Memorial Park. It was excellent to see so many local people attend the event, which was the culmination of months of hard work by the Friends of Freckleton Memorial Park and funding from various generous benefactors. Fylde MP visits Iraq to meet persecuted Christians

Fylde MP Mark Menzies has visited war-torn Iraq to see the devastation caused by ISIS and meet persecuted Christians who have been forced to flee their homes. During the fact-finding mission, the Member of Parliament spoke to displaced families at the Ashty 2 Camp, Ankawa, Erbil, where 5,500 people are forced to live in 1,088 housing units. Mark Menzies MP visits Lytham primary school

Fylde MP Mark Menzies said he was impressed with the new library and computer suite during a visit to a local primary school. The Member of Parliament was invited to Lytham C.E Primary School by headteacher Helen Willott, where he was given a tour of the school buildings and introduced to some of the pupils. I was disappointed, but not surprised, when Lancashire County Council cabinet members chose not to reverse the authority’s decision to close four out of five of Fylde’s libraries this week. There had been a glimmer of hope that councillors may at least look again at their plans when the council’s scrutiny committee sent the decision back to the cabinet for review.
