Fylde MP backs industry by calling for further beer duty cuts

FYLDE MP Mark Menzies has sent a “message in a barrel” calling on the Chancellor of the Exchequer to cut beer duty for the fourth consecutive time in next week’s budget. Last week I attended a ‘read-in’ at Ansdell Library to protest against Lancashire County Council’s decision to curtail library services, a decision which could see facilities close in Fylde. I was extremely disappointed the county council chose to target libraries as part of its budget process this year and want to see the authority think creatively to ensure we maintain the high levels of service we currently have. Mark Menzies MP joins new shale gas regulation group

FYLDE MP Mark Menzies has joined a new group set up to campaign for greater regulation of the shale gas industry. The role of the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Shale Gas Regulation and Planning will be to press for improved and transparent regulation of the industry. Fylde MP: We must control number of charity shops on our high streets

FYLDE MP Mark Menzies hosted a Parliamentary debate on the future of British high streets and raised concerns over the proliferation of charity shops in UK town centres. During the Westminster Hall debate, Mr Menzies said Britain is "increasingly becoming a nation of charity shopkeepers" and the Government needs to act to address the "unequal balance" between charity shops and small retailers. Mark Menzies welcomes plans for Healthy New Town in Fylde

FYLDE MP Mark Menzies said he was delighted a planned housing development close to the M55 motorway has been named an NHS-backed “Healthy New Town”.
