Minister in Fylde nuclear fuel plant visit

MARK Menzies MP invited the Minister of State for the Cabinet Office, the Rt Hon John Hayes MP, to visit a Fylde nuclear fuel plant to discuss future business opportunities and tour the site’s production facilities. While at Springfields, the Westinghouse-operated nuclear fuel manufacturing facility near Kirkham, the MPs received a business briefing from management, which included details of future commercial opportunities for Westinghouse in the UK and for the site in particular. THIS week I was absolutely delighted with the news that the new M55 to Lytham St Annes link road had been given the go ahead as part of the Government’s Growth Deals announced this week. Since coming to Parliament I have been continually pushing for this road to be built and have had regular meetings on the subject with Lancashire County Council, Fylde Borough Council and developers, during which I have urged them all to come to an arrangement which would see a new highway put... Mark Menzies’ joy at moss road announcement

FYLDE MP Mark Menzies today described his jubilation after an agreement was announced to build a new link road between St Annes and the M55. The project, which will cost around £15m in total, was set out as part of a raft of new schemes to be carried out by the Government, working alongside Lancashire Enterprise Partnership. THIS week I find myself writing for the second time in a week about rail services in Fylde. I was delighted to hear the announcement that the Transport Secretary had agreed a new franchise with Virgin Rail for the West Coast mainline, which included a new direct route from Blackpool North to London. However, I’m determined those trains stop in Kirkham to give a much-needed boost to rail services in Fylde and have made my feelings known to the Transport Secretary on this issue. THIS week I have been extremely busy attending a variety of events in Fylde alongside my work in Parliament. I was delighted to have the opportunity to walk in the procession through St Annes for Civic Sunday with new Mayor Cllr Kevin Eastham where I took the opportunity to congratulate him on his recent appointment.
