Mark Menzies’ joy at moss road announcement

FYLDE MP Mark Menzies today described his jubilation after an agreement was announced to build a new link road between St Annes and the M55. The project, which will cost around £15m in total, was set out as part of a raft of new schemes to be carried out by the Government, working alongside Lancashire Enterprise Partnership. THIS week I find myself writing for the second time in a week about rail services in Fylde. I was delighted to hear the announcement that the Transport Secretary had agreed a new franchise with Virgin Rail for the West Coast mainline, which included a new direct route from Blackpool North to London. THIS week I have been extremely busy attending a variety of events in Fylde alongside my work in Parliament. I was delighted to have the opportunity to walk in the procession through St Annes for Civic Sunday with new Mayor Cllr Kevin Eastham where I took the opportunity to congratulate him on his recent appointment. MP backs Fylde BAE team at Tug of War

FYLDE MP Mark Menzies joined local aerospace workers for this year’s Macmillan House of Lords v House of Commons Tug of War. Rather than flexing his own muscles, the Member of Parliament left it up to the team from BAE Warton to represent the Fylde in the Herculean effort. The event, hosted by BBC radio presenter Jeremy Vine, was held in College Gardens close to the Houses of Parliament and was sponsored by Taylor Wimpey Plc and BAE Systems, who went on to win the Sponsor Showdown. THIS week has been a time to remember the sacrifice made by our service men and women during the last world war, on the 70th anniversary of the D Day landings.
