Small business

FYLDE has a rich heritage of small business, both in terms of its tourist economy, farming and the quality small independent businesses which define the town centres.

Our town centres in Kirkham, Lytham and St Annes, despite the tough competition they face from big shopping centres in nearby Manchester, Liverpool and Preston as well as retail parks, are bursting with quality shops and there is always something unique on offer. Local village shops are also battling hard to beat the recession and providing an extremely valuable community service

Our famers are equally important, making great use of the Fylde’s rich green space to create the produce which feeds our nation. Times are difficult for farmers, make no mistake, but the experience and knowledge our local breed bring to their craft will stand them in excellent stead.

Our hoteliers also play a vital role, providing fantastic accomodation for the thousands of tourists who descend on the Fylde coast every year. I firmly believe the quality of some of the hotels in Fylde is by far the highest on the coast and I am sure, with the class of service they provide, will ensure continued success for decades to come.
