Small business

FYLDE has a rich heritage of thriving small businesses, both in terms of its tourism economy, farming and the quality small independent shops which define its town centres.

Mark believes in the quality of the high street offerings in Kirkham, Lytham and St Annes, despite the tough competition they face from big shopping centres in nearby Manchester, Liverpool and Preston, as well as more local retail parks.

He also supports smaller village shops, which have had to battle hard to beat the recent recession, and believes they provide an extremely valuable community service.

Mark is a big supporter of local famers who make great use of the Fylde’s rich green space to create the produce which feeds our nation. Recent times have been difficult for farmers, but Mark believes the experience and knowledge local agriculture workers bring to their craft will stand them in excellent stead for a thriving future.

Tourism is vital to our area and Mark understands the vital role played by hoteliers, who provide fantastic accommodation for the thousands of holidaymakers who descend on Fylde each year. He has visited many local hotels personally and believes the quality of facilities and service is the highest the Fylde coast has to offer.
