Fylde MP Mark Menzies calls for new team to run Lytham Hall

Fylde MP Mark Menzies has called for new leadership to be installed at the Heritage Trust North West, following the loss of millions of pounds of funding at Lytham Hall.

Mr Menzies made his call as Fylde Council made a number of recommendations for the future of the hall, including new leadership, management and accounting procedures.

He has called for the release of the Moore Stephens report, commissioned by the Heritage Trust North West, into the withdrawal of £1.7m Lottery funding at the Grade I-listed building. Heritage Trust North West refuses to release the document.

Mr Menzies said: “Following the meeting I had with the Heritage Lottery Fund, and the publication of a damning report from Blackpool Council into the way funding has been handled, it is clearer than ever that something has to change in the management of the Heritage Trust North West.

“The hall is a jewel in the crown for Lytham and the work of the volunteers there is fantastic.

“But the situation we have at present at the hall cannot be allowed to continue.

“HTNW has lost millions of pounds of funding at the hall and the facade of the building is in desperate need of work.

“The fact HTNW has failed to publish the Moore Stephens investigation findings, and has failed to give full and valid reasons for the refusal to publish it, speaks volumes.

“For the good of the town, and for the good of the dedicated volunteers and Lytham Town Trust, new leadership must be installed at the Heritage Trust North West to safeguard the future of this wonderful building.”
