Fylde MP Mark Menzies calls for urgent action on crumbling road

Clifton Street letter NEW

Fylde MP Mark Menzies has written to Lancashire County Council to demand action is taken over the dangerous state of Lytham’s main shopping street.

Mr Menzies has written to the authority highlighting the pothole-ridden state of Clifton Street.

He said: “I wrote to the authority highlighting this issue before Christmas and I am aware of one pothole being filled in – that is wholly unsatisfactory.

“Since then, that repair has failed and the entire carriageway is starting to collapse. There are stones all over the pavement and it is only a matter of time before someone is hurt.

“I have written again to Lancashire County Council to highlight how desperate the situation is.

“This is also affecting shopkeepers and small businesses in the town centre.

“The road is dangerous for pedestrians and drivers alike and swift action is needed.”
