Fylde MP pleased at standard of barracks accommodation

All of the accommodation for soldiers and their families at Weeton Barracks in Fylde is up to or even better than the standard expected.

Fylde MP Mark Menzies wrote to the Secretary of State for Defence to ask: “What plans his Department has to upgrade and improve the accommodation for service personnel and their families at Weeton Army Camp?”

Defence minister Tobias Ellwood replied: “There are no significant improvement works required for the service families accommodation (SFA) at Weeton Barracks.

“All of the SFA occupied by Service personnel and their families meet or are above the Department for Communities and Local Government’s Decent Homes standard.”

Mr Menzies said: “I am pleased to hear the accommodation meets or exceeds the expected standards. It is vitally important that our brave service personnel and their families do not have to worry about the quality of their homes while they serve our country.”
