Survey - Flash Flooding in Fylde (June 2023)

I am deeply concerned by the flooding issues seen across Fylde in the past 24 hours. It has been frankly shocking to see the damage to homes and the danger it has posed for residents. My thoughts are with the affected communities across rural Fylde.

This is perhaps the worst set of flooding incidents seen since August 2020. It was in the aftermath of those floods that I brought together local authorities and the Environment Agency to highlight the issues and agree a plan to move this issue forward.

I am angry that three years on we are not only seeing continued flooding issues in Fylde, but that it is the same houses and streets being affected. It is evident that systematic drainage issues have not been addressed.

This is a point I have underlined with Lancashire County Council and the Environment Agency. I have written to both bodies, demanding we reconvene to follow up on the points raised in 2020 and I expect to see an updated plan of action that will see these issues permanently resolved.

If you and your family have been impacted by the flooding, please do not hesitate to contact me on mark.menzies.mp@parliament.uk including your address, details of the issue and any photos or videos you may have so that I can pass these on to the relevant authorities.

I have launched a survey below so information can be passed on to Lancashire County Council and the Environment Agency on what areas need prioritising.
