Fylde MP Mark Menzies has welcomed the largest ever rise in the National Living Wage.
This week the Government increased the National Living Wage by almost five per cent - boosting the incomes of 1.8 million people by £690 a year.
Mr Menzies said: "This is great news for some of our lowest paid workers. This year, full-time workers receiving the National Living Wage will be more than £2,750 better off a year compared to 2015.
"The National Minimum Wage has also increased, which means some 2.1 million people are better off."
Since 2015 the National Living Wage has helped protect the lowest paid – increasing faster than inflation and average earnings.
Mr Menzies added: "We said as a party we would end low pay and ensure workers get a fair day’s pay for a fair day’s work.
“We’re putting money where it matters – in people’s pockets.
"Our minimum wage rates are among the highest in the world and we will continue to protect our lowest paid workers through our modern Industrial Strategy."
