Following heavy rain and flash-flooding across Fylde overnight, Mark Menzies MP has written to Lancashire County Council, the Environment Agency and United Utilities to call for action to address the matter.
Mr Menzies wrote: “This is an issue I have repeatedly raised with Lancashire County Council as the local flood authority, and I share residents’ growing exasperation at the seeming impasse in resolving these issues.
“I would appreciate an update from all bodies involved as to what progress has been made in alleviating this flood risk, as well as the more urgent matter of protecting residents and homes over the coming days.”
Mr Menzies added: “This is something I have discussed with all relevant authorities several times and which I have been assured is being dealt with on every occasion. The fact that this level of flooding has occurred, as a result of one night of rain following a prolonged dry spell, demonstrates that not to be the case, which is absolutely unacceptable.
“I have requested that urgent action be taken to support residents and will be taking this issue forward with Lancashire County Council, the Environment Agency and United Utilities to prevent it happening again.”
