A texting service is available for those with mental health and loneliness issues who prefer to communicate by messaging.
Fylde MP Mark Menzies says the Wellbeing and Mental Health Texting Service is a confidential and anonymous service designed to provide emotional support for those who prefer to communicate by text message.
He said: “Different people need contact in different ways, and this service is there for those people not comfortable talking on the phone.
“This service offers emotional support through texting, the ability to intervene with someone in crisis, give information about mental health and support services, and to empower and guide people to make positive choices.
“During the pandemic and social distancing rules, it is more important than ever that we communicate with each other and help our mental wellbeing.
“Please make sure you check in on your neighbours, relatives and friends albeit from a distance, by phone or via social media.”
Anyone can access the texting service by texting HELLO to 07860 022846. Responses are made between 7 and 11pm Monday to Friday and Noon to Midnight on Saturday and Sundays.
The Service is operated by the Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust.
Anyone who needs to call the service can do so on 0800 9154640.
