The Boundary Commission’s initial proposals for changes to constituencies mean minimal changes here in Fylde.
I have always been of the belief the borough of Fylde should be kept together within the constituency and I am glad to see that after we previously made representations to keep the borough intact, the Boundary Commission clearly agrees.
We have seen some vandalism in Fylde in the past few weeks, with Ashton Gardens and the old lifeboat house on Lytham Green targeted, among others. It is absolutely mindless and incredibly sad, given the efforts many people go to across Fylde to not only take pride in their properties, but also their local communities.
We must see more police action against those committing vandalism – to stop them from carrying out more, and to act as a deterrent to others.
I’m delighted to see action being taken on the drainage issues in Rossall Road in Ansdell after I met with County Councillor Tim Ashton to discuss the need to resurface the road.
Many people suggested other roads which are in need of repair and I will be reporting each to Lancashire County Council.
The contractor awarded the earthworks for the M55 link road scheme will be visibly on site from Monday.
Lancashire County Council confirmed this week that the firm, Duo, has been on site speaking with landowners ahead of setting out its construction compound on Monday.
It has been frustrating waiting to see visible signs of the road after fighting for it for so many years, and finally seeing the £27 million project signed off in March.
Since being appointed, Duo has been working with landowners and the County Council ahead of moving fully onto the site. I always said I would not rest until I saw shovels in the ground – and I eagerly await to see exactly that in the next few days.
Everyone who is eligible for the Covid jab should take the opportunity up as soon as possible. It is not just about protecting yourself and those who are vulnerable – but also the NHS and our local businesses.
