There are construction vehicles and engineers on the site of the M55 link road.
On Monday morning, workers from earthwork firm DUO arrived on site and started preparing the ground for their compound; from next Monday they will begin officially the works to construct our new road.
It’s not a moment too soon and I look forward to visiting the site in the next few days.
The Government this week confirmed our Restoring Your Railway grant for the plan to double services on the South Fylde line.
The confirmation of funding follows several months of work towards a Strategic Outline Business Case to demonstrate that doubling services will improve access to the wider rail network, education and employment for Fylde residents, as well as increase the capacity for tourists visiting our towns.
We have already appointed Network Rail to carry out a line and station capacity study, and are in the process of appointing an engineering consultant to complete the rest of the business case.
The Prime Minister has announced a month-long extension until we fully emerge from lockdown. It means our restaurants, bars and cafes can remain open and we need to stick to the rules for just that little while longer before the final regulations are removed.
We are on a last almighty push to get as many people vaccinated as possible. Please, please make sure you get your jab as soon as is possible. You are not only protecting yourself, your family and friends, and the NHS, you are also ensuring the virus is far less likely to mutate once again.
We must protect our local businesses and ensure they never have to close their doors again.
