It has been Nuclear Week in Parliament and following the Westminster Hall debate I held last week, I again met up with workers and apprentices from Springfields.
We highlighted how vital it is for the Government to commit to new nuclear, ensuring all fuel for UK nuclear power stations is manufactured here in Fylde, protecting more than 800 jobs directly and thousands more in the supply chain.
I was delighted to join Radio Lancashire at the Make a Difference Awards. The event highlighted some wonderful instances of incredibly inspirational Lancastrians and I felt proud of their achievements as we saw awards handed to community heroes, carers and volunteers.
All of the finalists had overcome difficulties and tackled issues which have made a real difference to the lives of those in need.
I also met up with friends old and new from One Fylde at the St Annes on the Sea Town Council September Spectacular in Ashton Gardens. There was an amazing atmosphere in the Gardens, the event brought a lot of people to the town, and all of the organisations and groups taking part met a lot of new people.
I joined Macmillan Cancer Support for their World’s Biggest Coffee Morning event in Westminster.
I spoke with Macmillan staff and NHS cancer specialists, who underlined just how important it is catch cancer as early as possible. If you suspect you may have symptoms, please do not leave things to chance - make an appointment with your doctor as soon as you can.
Congratulations to St Annes CC who left it late – the last day of the season, in fact – to secure their place in the Northern Premier League next season. It’s where the club belongs and I know its members will be delighted to be in the league for the 2022 season.
Staying with sport, the Paralympics have finished and our athletes finished second in the medals table. That is an absolutely stunning achievement and I’m sure I speak for us all when I say Fylde is incredibly proud of the most successful Team GB performance to date.
