Fylde MP Mark Menzies has welcomed updated Government plans to ensure energy bill support reaches people living in park homes and others paying energy bills through third parties.
From January people will be able to apply for the £400 grants, which will be distributed through local councils.
Mr Menzies has been pressing the Government to deliver a scheme equivalent to the discounts customers are receiving on their electricity bills.
He said: “The help with energy bills has been vital for so many households.
“But there are people here in Fylde, like those living in park homes, who do not pay their bills directly to providers and so haven’t been included in the current scheme.
“I did not think that was fair and made clear the need to provide an equivalent package.”
Mr Menzies is frustrated at the time it has taken to finalise plans but believes the scheme will make a real difference for many who have not been able to access the existing schemes.
He said: “There are hundreds of people living in park homes here in Fylde, for them this funding will be most welcome.
“The Government has taken its time in coming up with these plans. There were issues with the initial proposals which I raised with Ministers, they have listened - and we now have a scheme which will work”
“Local councils have experience in dealing with grant schemes, getting them arranged and payments made quickly.
“The skills they showed during the pandemic will be put to good use here.
“I look forward to seeing this money in people’s pockets, supporting them with their bills.”
