Fylde MP Mark Menzies has welcomed the extra funding for Lancashire due to coronavirus restrictions.
He said: "I’m pleased to see the settlement from Government and swift agreement between the Lancashire leaders on the funding and how to distribute it fairly."
On top of the Tier 3 funding for businesses and staff wages, Fylde was been handed an extra £1.6 million. Fylde will benefit from a further £115.2 million fund for Lancashire.
Mr Menzies added: "I want to see all of that money used to further support families and businesses. It is clear the hospitality industry is especially hard-hit in Tier Three – venues such as hotels can remain open but bookings have been cancelled and that has a knock-on effect on the rest of the industry.
"I have written to the Chancellor to ask that we ensure VAT remains at five per cent for the next year and that we continue helping businesses with rate relief.
"I am also pleased to see Fylde Council last week approve some £74,000 of Government funding to support families in need."
Fylde Council has contacted food banks in the borough which are operating at present below capacity - but has pledged to further support them should the need arise. The £74,000 is earmarked specifically to support families with food and essentials.
