Fylde MP Mark Menzies says investment in infrastructure is key to helping the economy flourish - and is delighted at the level of investment in the area now.
Mr Menzies spoke after Northern MPs made a call for a 'Big Bang' investment to level up the region with others in the UK.
He said: “It is clear that infrastructure plays a key role in helping economies flourish and I am pleased to see we have a lot of that investment here in Fylde now.
"The Enterprise Zone on Blackpool Airport is attracting more and more business, and we have infrastructure schemes including the fully-funded M55 link road, the Preston West Distributor Road, improvements to the A585 and the successful Restoring Your Railway bid to double services on the South Fylde line.
“Kirkham has secured close to £10 million in funding to revitalise the town centre across two separate bids, and there are ambitious plans in the pipeline for St Annes. All of these will attract businesses and jobs.
“I welcome any calls for investment incentives and the likes of a Northern Infrastructure Bonds to attract global capital to the area – and I think we will already see a real boom thanks to the opportunities afforded by the new trans-Atlantic cable which landed at Squires Gate last year.”
