Mark Menzies, Member of Parliament for Fylde, has thanked NHS staff for their service over its 75-year history and backed the Government’s new 15-year plan to increase NHS staff numbers.
I know that many are worried about the dead fish recently seen in Fairhaven Lake and other watercourses. I am assured that this is unrelated to any sewage discharges and is a nationwide issue, the result of the recent hot weather.
Last week I spoke briefly about the flooding seen in Fylde last Monday night. Since then, I have been visiting affected communities to meet with residents and it has been frankly heart-breaking to see the damage the floodwater has caused to homes and businesses.
Stopping the boats has been an ongoing challenge, but one that the Government is determined to rise to. Too many lives are being put at risk by callous criminal gangs who are profiting from vulnerable and desperate people.
We have a wonderfully dedicated and skilled workforce in our local NHS. They, and the patients they treat, deserve the very best facilities. This Government’s pledge to build 40 new hospitals was a key manifesto pledge and, despite changes in Prime Minister, this commitment has never wavered.
Last week was Dementia Awareness Week, a particularly important subject for me and so many across Fylde who have seen this particularly cruel disease impact themselves personally or those they love.
Fylde has so much to offer, be it world class manufacturing and scientific skills, natural beauty, or the hospitality available in our restaurants, hotels and pubs. Our geography, hemmed in by the Ribble and the sea, means that transport links are especially vital.
