It is Conservative Party conference this week, an opportunity to outline the Government’s agenda and to debate the ideas which will help improve the lives of people across the United Kingdom, including those living here in Fylde.
I know many people here in Fylde will be worrying about the rising costs of energy. While I do not want to wish away the last weeks of summer, autumn is approaching and it will not be long now before families will have to start thinking about turning on the heating as the nights draw in.
Headlines continue to be dominated by the contest to lead the Conservative Party, with debate certainly intensifying over recent days. Ballot papers should be reaching members very soon and we will know in just a few short weeks who will be our next Prime Minister.
Following two weeks of frantic competition and voting we now know who the final two candidates are in the Conservative Party leadership election will be. This decision matters not only to the Party but to the country as the winner will become our next Prime Minister.
What a fantastic weekend it was as crowds and processions, as well as the fun of the fair, returned for Lytham Club Day. I was so pleased to be able to join in and walk through the town and it was lovely to see so many people joining in and lining the streets.
All the talk this week has undoubtedly been the strikes on our railways. The walkout means the South Fylde line will be closed entirely for three days this week with no alternative for passengers.
What a wonderful week of celebrations we have seen across Fylde to mark Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. With flags flying high and streets bursting with bunting our towns and villages have truly demonstrated the pride and their gratitude.
